Our Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado

We are located at 7000' (2,130m) elevation in the foothills at the base of Pikes
Peak, 14,115' (4,302m). You can hike up to the top via the Barr
Trail, drive up on the
Pikes Peak Highway or take the Cog
Railway. The picture on the left was taken in mid-June
and the picture on the right is alpenglow near the end of October. You can see what Pike's
Peak looks like right now by accessing the Pikes
Peak Cam. Pikes Peak is named after explorer Zebulon
Montgomery Pike (1779-1813). America
the Beautiful was composed in 1893 by Katharine Lee Bates as she descended
from Pikes Peak.

We are about 3 miles (5 km) from Garden of the
Gods, with rugged upended sandstone
plates about 100m or so tall. It's hard to believe this exotic place is a city park. Take
your technical rock climbing gear, a mountain bike, your car, or just a camera.

The Kissing Camels are part of the rock formations in
Garden of the Gods.

NORAD (North American
Air Defense Command) is located inside beautiful Cheyenne
Mountain, but we'd rather be hiking on the mountain outside. Can't get on a tour?
Then
just watch War Games
(1983).

World class skiing is about two hours west of Colorado Springs at
Copper,
Keystone,
Breckenridge,
Monarch, Vail,
Arapahoe
(A) Basin, etc.

The United States Air Force Academy is just several miles north of our
location. It's a great place to bicycle or drive through. Visit the Air Force Academy Chapel
and see the cadets marching in formation to lunch.

The United States Olympic Training Center located in Colorado
Springs has tours available. The Velodrome attracts international bicycling competitors.

Colorado Springs is the home of the Pikes
Peak Regional Science Fair (PPRSF), which marks its 61st year in 2019. Some PPRSF
participants have gone on to become finalists at the Intel Science Talent
Search (now Regeneron STS), the nation's most prestigious pre-college science
competition, and to place at the Intel International Science and Engineering
Fair (Intel ISEF), the world’s largest international pre-college science
competition.
